Capsicum Broccoli Besan Stir Fry Sabzi


Capsicum Broccoli Besan Stir Fry Sabzi is a vegetarian recipe, which is made with simple ingredients like besan, exotic Indian mild spices and capsicum pieces. Besan and other spices are mixed together and roasted to make a besan masala powder. Later this mixture is flavored with fried capsicum pieces.

Capsicum Broccoli Besan Sabzi – After my marriage, we had a chance to visit one of my husband’s friend family in Germany. She prepared really really yummy tasty colorful capsicum sabzi with besan flour. I never tasted this kind of tasty capsicum sabzi before. She has used red, yellow, green capsicums for the preparation of the sabzi. It turned so tasty and colourful. Our German friends liked a lot. The procedure of making this dish is very simple. Even a beginner of Indian cooking can easily master this dish. Capsicum is easily available in almost all the Supermarkets across the globe. Instead of making Sandwiches with raw capsicum, you can try this recipe for making the stuff for your sandwiches.Last week I got banana chilli from turkey shop and I suddenly thought to prepare capsicum sabzi with besan flour. It turned it so tasty and my friends liked a lot. Here is the mouthwatering capsicum recipe. This recipe also spelled as Capsicum with besan recipe, Capsicum besan sabji , Capsicum besan sabzi .   • Capsicum/Banana Chili - 3
  • Besan (Gram flour) 3 Tbsp
  • Red chili powder, 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder -1 tsp
  • Coriander powder, 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida -1/2 tsp.
  • Amchur (dried mango powder), 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves, freshly chopped 1/2 cup
  • Cooking oil - 5 tbsp.
  • Fresh lime/lemon juice, 1/2tsp
  • Salt, to taste


Step 1

Capsicum Preparation: Wash and cut the Capsicum and Broccoli in to medium size pieces. Remove the seeds.

Step 2

Besan Preparation: Heat a nonstick pan. Dry roast the gram flour on a low flame by stirring continuously otherwise it turns to lumps.

Step 3

Spices mixing: When the Gram flour turns to golden color, add asafoetida, cumin powder and coriander powder and stir the mixture continuously. Roast it until its soft and nice aroma felt.

Step 4

Masala Powder addition: When besan starts sticking to the pan, add red chilly powder mix well, Remove the heat and transfer the besan mixture in a plate.

Step 5

Tempering: Heat 5tbsp of oil in a non stick pan, when the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, Curry leaves and turmeric powder.

Step 6

Mixing capsicum: When raw flavor of turmeric disappears, add Broccoli pieces and salt. When Broccoli pieces partially cooked, add capsicum pieces. Cover the lid and cook it until soft on a low flame. (If the flame is too high, capsicum may stick to the pan)

Step 7

Lemon Juice flavoring: When the capsicum pieces are cooked, spread lemon juice and mix well.

Step 8

Roasted gram flour addition: Now Spread roasted masala gram flour on it and cover for 2 min and then mix the gram flour with capsicum pieces gently.Stir it and cook for another 5 mins on a low flame.

Step 9

Garnishing: Garnish the capsicum sabzi with coriander leaves.

Step 10

Now the sabzi is ready to serve with rice or chapatti.


My advise is while making any kind of sabzi with besan flour do not use excess quantity. Otherwise the original taste of this dish can’t be felt.
